Save Sight Registries provide eye doctors with a scientific, web-based platform to capture high-quality clinical data on patient treatment outcomes. They enable current and emerging therapies to be evaluated for clinical efficacy, cost-effectiveness and safety. Our reports are used to development optimal treatment protocols that reduce the risk of blindness.
Clinicians can register to participate in any of the Audits available under the Save Sight Registries.
The Fight Tumour Blindness! Project was recently launched in September 2018. The Fight Uveitis Blindness! Projects is in development, it is anticipated that registries associated with this program will be rolled out globally in this year.
The web-based user interface is designed to enable clinicians and delegated authorities (e.g. practice administrators) to enter patient information quickly and easily. Patient records can be set up in 30 seconds and updated for each patient visit in 15 seconds.
No patient name or contact details are recorded in the Save Sight Registry database. Each patient is allocated a unique identifier by their treating clinician and only the clinician and delegated authority (for example, secondary treating clinician or practice administrator) have local access to the data.
All patient information entered in the Save Sight Registry database is encrypted, transmitted and stored in a secure server at The University of Sydney, Australia. Neither patients nor clinicians can be identified individually by other clinics, entities or authorities. All findings are reported using aggregated data.
All registries in Australia under the Save Sight Registries banner must be approved by local health area Human Research Ethics Committees. All private sites in Australia (i.e. private clinics/practices) are covered by an overarching ethics approval issued by the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmology.
